Sexy + Sustainability

WHO said being environmentally friendly can’t be sleek and sexy? The Karma consumes no gasoline for the first 50 miles, the interior trim is environmentally responsible and its aluminum skin is finished off with a solar-cell roof. A 260-hp, four-cylinder engine combined with a 20-kWh lithium-ion battery pack and twin AC motors deliver 402 horsepower to the differential. The gasoline engine powers only the generator and the Karma is always electrically driven at the rear wheel. The Karma goes from 0 to 60 mph in 7.9 seconds, or in 5.9 seconds when the gas engine kicks in.

According to Fisker, if you drive 32 miles in a single day, as 61% of drivers in the United States do, you could conceivably use no gasoline at all. If you drive 40 miles in a given day, as nearly 68% of drivers in the U.S. do, your overall fuel economy (assuming a daily full charge) will be the equivalent of 100 MPG. The “real road feel” steering and supple ride means great handling. For those who like their gadgets, it comes with an iPod jack, Bluetooth, backup camera and parking sonar. Add this all together and you can see why celebrities like Leonardo DiCaprio and Justin Bieber have made it their ride of choice. tj
